Bisttram and Lumpkins and Pelton, Oh My!

Aaron Payne’s latest blog post is a must read regarding LACMA and the Transcendental Painting Group of NM (ap@apfineart.com). It was with warm sentiment I read Aaron’s latest post about growing up in Los Angeles and LACMA’s not-to-be-missed show on the New Mexican artists of the TPG (Dec. 18 – June 19, 2023)(lacma.org); Emil Bisttram, Agnes Pelton, Raymond Johnson, Lawren Harris, Florence Miller, the list goes on and every member’s work is represented in the over 75 paintings in the show. We all know who they are and their impact only grows as the years fly by.
There are so many reasons to take this trek before the show ends. Imagine boarding a sleeper car in Lamy at 3 pm and arriving at Union Station at 7 am the next morning. Or make it a two day trip stopping for an over-night at the La Posada in Winslow.
Experience the newly renovated and still expanding transformation of the fabulous Los Angles County Museum of Art in this great area of LA. Walk around the La Brea Tar Pits and check out the new Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, both right next door.
